Stakeholder Mapping

Programmes rarely fail because the community opposed them. They fail because one office never signed, one local leader felt bypassed, one federation was assumed friendly and wasn't. Stakeholder mapping finds these people and institutions before they find the programme.

How we work

Influence is local, informal and rarely on the org chart.

The formal map is easy: district administration, block office, gram panchayat, line departments. The map that decides outcomes also includes SHG federations, youth clubs, religious leadership, traders' associations, the retired headmaster everyone consults. We build both maps, assess each actor's interest and influence honestly, and turn the result into an engagement sequence — who is approached first, by whom, with what.

  • Formal-institution mapping: departments, elected bodies and scheme machinery relevant to the programme
  • Informal-influence mapping through field interviews: who is actually consulted before this community decides anything
  • Interest–influence analysis for each actor, with sensitivities and likely objections recorded plainly
  • Conflict and faction awareness — where support from one group costs the support of another
  • Engagement plan: sequence, messenger and message for each priority stakeholder
  • A living register the programme team can maintain as postings change and alignments shift
SequenceWho is met first matters as much as who is met
TransfersOfficials move; the map must survive the posting cycle
